Client: The Clancy Group
Contractor: Lindrick Construction
Project Location: Chalgrove Sewage Treatment Works (STW).
Project Overview
We were appointed by The Clancy Group to deliver a complete access platform solution at Chalgrove Sewage Treatment Works (STW). The scope included detailed site scanning, 3D modelling, manufacture, and installation of nine bespoke access platforms across the treatment plant.
The project formed part of ongoing infrastructure improvements at the site, with a key focus on providing safe and reliable access for future operation and maintenance activities.
The Challenge
This was a technically challenging installation due to the amount of existing and newly installed pipework running throughout the treatment area. The platforms needed to integrate precisely within a heavily congested environment, with limited tolerance for error.
Careful coordination was essential to ensure:
- No clashes with process pipework or equipment
- Safe access routes were maintained throughout
- Installation could be completed efficiently on a live operational site
- Fabricated steelwork aligned accurately first time onsite
With multiple platforms positioned between tanks, pipe runs, and elevated structures, achieving accurate dimensional data at the early stages of the project was critical.
Our Solution
Site Scanning
We carried out a full site scan to capture highly accurate measurements and existing site conditions. This enabled us to build a precise digital representation of the working area and identify potential problem areas before manufacture commenced.
3D Modelling & Design Coordination
Using the scan data, our design team created a detailed 3D model of the entire platform arrangement. The modelling stage allowed us to coordinate the structures around complex pipework layouts and ensure all access routes, stairs, handrails, and landings could be installed without clashes.
The use of 3D modelling proved invaluable on this project, allowing potential installation issues to be resolved virtually before reaching site.
Manufacture
Following approval, we manufactured nine galvanised access platforms complete with stair access, mesh guarding, and grating walkways. Each platform was fabricated to suit the exact site dimensions and operational requirements.
The modular approach helped streamline installation while maintaining high quality and consistency throughout the project.
Installation
Our installation team successfully installed all nine platforms safely and on programme. Thanks to the accuracy of the site scanning and modelling process, the structures fitted as designed with no clashes or significant onsite modifications required.
Despite the complexity of the surrounding pipework and confined installation areas, the project was delivered efficiently with minimal disruption to ongoing site operations.

Conclusion
The Chalgrove STW project demonstrates the importance of combining accurate site surveying with detailed digital modelling when working within complex industrial environments.
By carrying out comprehensive site scanning and careful design coordination, we were able to manufacture and install a complete access solution that integrated seamlessly within a congested treatment plant layout — delivering the project safely, efficiently, and on schedule for The Clancy Group.
